i have a 2008 hyundai tucson 4wd gls v6 the alarm won't stop going off....i have had the car for 2 weeks...first week it was fine...then the second week it started to go off we thought it was the recycling truck that made too loud of a noise near ir...changed it's parking spot to a quiter location...it is still going off randomnly no pattern...last night it went off about 8 times in a matter of 3 hours...this morning it went off twice...didn't go off all night (odd, but thank god it didn't go off)...no one drives by it or walks near it and it goes off, driving me crazy, neighbors are pissed off....i am constantly running to the kitchen window with the keys to shut it off!!! helP!!!!! have an appointment on monday to fix this thing.....what could it be?

never had this experience, but I think it caused by a faulty alarm module. It's a small box that can be easily replaced. It should still under warranty

why not just lock it without the alarm for the time being?

went to hyundai today, turns out it is a defective hood sensor...the hood sensor is sometimes saying the hood is open when it is really closed...so the alarm thinks someone is opening the hood..thats why the alarm keeps going off randomnly....going to have it replaced on thursday :)

well guess what the beeping car is back it went back to the garage in september for the same problem, alarm keeps going off, they fixed it AGAIN changed the antenna apparently...well it is now february and the alarm is beeping AGAIN..but this is where the story gets VERY interesting.....brought my car in on tuesday for the alarm issue, everything else with the car is fine....they call me to come to the garage saying theres no problem with the car....meanwhile another tucson same year and color as mine comes in for a transmission job.....they mix up my car and his car.....so basically they were working on his car fixing an UN BROKEN alarm....and guess what they did with mine...took out my good transmission, put in a new transmission....what they did with my transmission GOD only knows because these people are not playing with a full deck..when they realized what they did there faces DROPPED to the floor i got FURIOUS...so now...they are going to take out the new transmission, put back my old one...but i am so worried they are going to mess up the tranny job and do something wrong....what should i do i am at my wits end with this car/garage!!!!!!!!! i was thinking of asking them to give me an extended warranty on the transmission...i was also going to ask them to pay for a thorough check by my OWN mechanic outside of hyundai...and i am trying to track down my original serial number of my transmission.....does hyundai head office have this in there files??? because i want to make sure the correct transmission was put back into the car.

please help i am going nuts with this headache of a car!

The most stupid job ever!
Somebody's head is going to roll for sure....
But if it's a brand new transmission don't let them take it out for me that would be fine but with warranty of course and no charge!

Phone Hyundai straight away and tell them whats happened as this garage may cause problems for your transmission ie- out in-out-in and ask Hyundai to instruct them to leave it there -Tell the garage that the car is not available for at least two weeks as you are away (white lie) or are extremely busy.

Fix your alarm yourself by checking the switch on the bonnet.

Cheers

ITZA

PS Itz not the car giving you a headache itz the Bloomin dealer !!!

ok hopefully the problems got solved today.....the have put back my old transmission...they have replaced every liquid in my car...they are going to do my next oil change for free....they are paying me a full tank of gas....they are writing an apology letter.....and they are paying the bill when i bring the car to my own trusted mechanic to look the car over from top to bottom. i will be bringing the car in to my own mechanic in a few days....because i do not trust the hyundai dealer...by bringing the car to my own mechanic this is really going to help put my mind at ease. they even did a wheel alignment....i was driving the car today and i have to admit it has never driven that well before. they also cleaned the interior and exterior it seriously looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. oh and they fixed the alarm (that i will believe when it doesnt go off in the next few months) the car rides really tight and solid now and feels like it is biting the road...and it is very responsive to quick weaving ...i was testing it out today...overall i am quite happy....but i am still in awe that all this happened at a certified hyundai dealer...oh and hyundai canada has been notified and they will be doing there own follow up concerning this incident....the best part was when i told him i will not be buying my brand new fully loaded santa fea from these guys!!!

That sucks!

Let them pay all the bills and have them sign a document stating that whatever happens in the next 6 months or 1 year from the time they put back the transmission they still have to pay for all the damages/services/hassles/inconveniences (or whatever) related to that incident of course.

Put it in writing... Know your right and protect it. Money is not that easy to earn.

ok another update, thanks for the advice about getting it in writing...i will be contacting consumer protection and hyundai canada. ok so they said today that the problem is an OXYGEN SENSOR. Now how plausible is it that they damaged this piece while they were doing a double transmission job???? it's hard to prove but i am CONVINCED they somehow did something to this piece.

because i had the car fixed friday (the transmission) and i drove the car 3 hours between friday and sunday...and then the check engine light came on...the car has 46000 km;s on it so how plausible is it that the oxygen sensor is broken already??? it's not old....

This does sound as if they could have disturbed something that was previously running perfectly. In my honest opinion anything that happens to your vehicle should be corrected by the dealer at no cost to you or indeed Hyundai for at least a period of time to be determined by Hyundai Canada and yourselves.
The Oxygen sensors are extremely intricate and almost delicate items as they measure the air at two stages prior to it being released into the atmosphere and everything they do they report to your onboard computer to diagnose and report on -hence the yellow check light coming on to warn that things are not as they should be.

Hope this helps

Itza
